Suprematist Composition

Kazimir Malevich · Russian · 1916

Malevich painted this work at the height of his Suprematist breakthrough, reducing painting to floating geometric forms on white to express a new non-objective reality. After remaining with the artist, then architect Hugo Häring and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, it was restituted to Malevich's heirs and later set a record for Russian art at Christie's in 2018.
